Father John Misty is an multi-instrumentalist and singer known prior for his work as a percussionist in the popular fleet foxes and Saxon shore. This is his sophomore album following the very attractive “Fear Fun” that released in 2012. And it was good. Pretty okay. But “I love you, Honeybear” in my opinion is a far more complete showing of what Tillman can really do.

The entire album focuses on all aspects of love, the highs, lows and the abusive truths that we all hide under the rug waiting for titi to expose during Sunday dinner. It focuses heavily on alternative country and folk, and doesn’t shy away from taking the entire album off rails with tracks like “true affection”. His vocals shine far more on this album than the prior and it’s utterly gorgeous to hear this white man yodel like bro I’m serious it is great. - Alex
